Stocks jump at opening as regulator assures no market intervention
Bangladesh, Sept. 1 -- Stocks opened sharply higher on Tuesday as investors stepped up buying in select shares following assurances from the securities regulator that it would not intervene in the market.

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Masud Khan on Monday said that the market would be allowed to move on its own strength and the regulator would not interfere with its normal course.
He also noted that the commission would soon take steps to bring public-interest companies to the capital market, a move that further boosted investor confidence.
