Bangladesh, Aug. 25 -- Stocks opened on a positive note on Tuesday as investors stepped up buying of selective shares following the recent market correction.

Market insiders said significant declines over the past two sessions had brought many stocks to attractive price levels, prompting bargain hunters to take fresh positions. However, overall market sentiment remained subdued amid persistent concerns over the energy crisis.

DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 15 points, or 0.27 per cent, to reach 5,658 at 11:30 am, when the report was filed.

The DS30 index, comprising blue-chip stocks, advanced 3 points to 2,133, while the Shariah-based DSES index rose 5 points to 1,129.
