Speaker expunges own 'dark chapter' remark over Mamunul Haque
Dhaka, June 21 -- In a rare instance, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad expunged his own remark, 'dark chapter' of a person's life, alongside comments made by a BNP lawmaker regarding Hefazat-e-Islam leader Moulana Mamunul Haque from the parliamentary record.
"I had earlier mentioned 'the dark chapter' of a person's life. The 'dark chapter' word what came in my statement, has also been expunged," he said, UNB reports.
The Speaker said this, referring to his own remark made following the comments of ruling party lawmaker Khondoker Abu Ashfaque (Dhaka-1) over the Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque in the House on Thursday.
