Bangladesh, Aug. 5 -- More than half of the country's food-producing households are small-scale farmers, yet they earn less than one-third of the income of larger producers, according to a new government survey that highlights widening economic disparities in the agricultural sector.

Advertisement The survey, the first nationally representative benchmark for monitoring progress towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2.3, also found that while smallholders dominate food production, their productivity and returns vary widely across different agricultural subsectors.

The SDG Target 2.3 aims to double the agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers by 2030.
