Small farmers dominate food production but earn far less: BBS survey
Bangladesh, Aug. 4 -- More than half of the country's food-producing households are small-scale operators, but they earn less than a third of what larger farms make, according to a new government survey that highlights a widening economic divide in the country's rural economy.

Smallholders account for 53.65 per cent of all food-producing households across the country, according to a new survey named Survey on Income and Productivity of Small-Scale Food Producers 2025, released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Tuesday.
They are involved in producing crops, forestry, aquaculture and livestock.
