Rajshahi's noise pollution reaches an appalling high
Bangladesh, Aug. 18 -- RAJSHAHI, Aug 17: Noise pollution in Rajshahi has reached an alarming level, with sound levels recorded above 100 decibels at two of the city's busiest intersections, far exceeding the permissible limit for commercial areas.
A recent measurement at Railgate and Laxmipur intersections found average peak noise levels of 101.5 decibels and 102.6 decibels respectively during busy morning hours.
The measurements were conducted on Saturday by the Barendra Environment Development Volunteer Organisation with support from Barind Environment. Noise levels were recorded at Railgate from 10:00am to 10:30am and at Laxmipur from 10:30am to 11:00am.
