Raise agri subsidies to Tk 350b in FY27 budget
Dhaka, May 20 -- The Bangladesh Agricultural Economists Association (BAEA) on Tuesday demanded that the government raise agricultural subsidies to Tk 350 billion in the FY27 national budget, more than double the current allocation of Tk 172.41 billion, citing rising production costs and growing climate vulnerabilities.
The demand came at a national seminar titled "National Budget 2026-27: Roadmap for Sustainable Agricultural Development in Bangladesh" and held at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council in the capital.
The BAEA also proposed increasing the agriculture sector's share in the national budget to 9.5 per cent from the existing 5.9 per cent.
