Dhaka, May 3 -- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said rainfall is likely to continue for a few more days across the country due to an active depression stretching from West Bengal to the northern Bay of Bengal.
The BMD in its forecast said on Saturday that Bangladesh recorded 75 per cent above-normal rainfall in April, due to multiple western depressions.
It said that six river stations in northeastern haor regions exceeded pre-monsoon danger levels.
According to the BMD, Dhaka recorded 47mm of rain in the 24 hours to 6am on Friday, the highest in the country.
A meteorologist at BMD said that April rainfall was highly abnormal, persisting for 8-10 days instead of the usual 2-4 days.
