Railway track withdrawal: Chinese joint venture to rehabilitate first Jamuna Bridge
Dhaka, May 14 -- A Chinese joint-venture (JV) company has been assigned to rehabilitate Bangladesh's first longest bridge over the Jamuna River as railway tracks have been withdrawn from there.
The tracks were removed after constructing a dedicated railway bridge on the river last year.
The Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) and CCCC-CRBC JV signed the contract under the Jamuna Bridge Deck Rehabilitation and Reopening of Abandoned Rail Lane initiative at a ceremony at Setu Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday.
