Bangladesh, Sept. 10 -- The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has stepped up its drive against VAT evasion by online businesses, with a preliminary review of documents seized from a retailer in Dhaka revealing around Tk 20-million in evaded revenue.

Advertisement The revenue authority said it had recently brought several online-based businesses under investigation as online commerce continues to expand.

Two enforcement teams of the Directorate of VAT Audit, Intelligence and Investigation conducted simultaneous raids on two showrooms of Alpha e Shop on Tuesday and seized documents related to the company's purchases and sales.
