Bangladesh, Aug. 1 -- Prices of onions, eggs and most vegetables have risen further, adding to consumers' woes, as the kitchen market remains volatile following continuous rainfall and flooding in parts of the country.

Advertisement Green chilli has recorded the sharpest increase, with retail prices climbing to Tk 360-400 a kg on Friday, the highest level so far this year.

A visit to Mohammadpur, Adabor and West Dhanmondi markets in the capital on Friday found most retailers selling green chilli at around Tk 400 a kg. It was being sold at Tk 40 per 100 grams and Tk 100 per 250 grams.

Adabor Bazar vendor Anis Ali said the price of green chilli had increased by around Tk 100 a kg within a week.
