Bangladesh, Sept. 15 -- The country's major private-sector dairy companies have raised the prices of liquid milk by up to Tk 10 a litre, following a similar rate hike by the state-run Milk Vita last month.

Advertisement Aarong, Akij and other companies have hiked their retail prices of packaged liquid milk to Tk 110-115 per litre against the previous rates of Tk 100-105, according to trading sources.

The price of half-litre packed milk has also increased to around Tk 60, they said.

The latest price hikes mean consumers are now paying more for packaged liquid milk across both state-run and private brands.

Milk Vita, the Bangladesh Milk Producers' Cooperative Union, raised its retail prices by up to Tk 10 a litre from August 1.
