Dhaka, March 19 -- A spell of pre-monsoon nor'westers swept across Dhaka and several parts of Bangladesh on Wednesday evening, bringing much-needed relief from recent heat but disrupting daily life with gusty winds, lightning and scattered showers.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned that similar weather conditions may persist over the coming days, with the possibility of further rain and isolated hailstorms across the country, including on Eid day.

It said that temporary gusty or squally winds, lightning and rain, accompanied by hailstorms in some areas, occurred during the evening.
