Dhaka, June 2 -- The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) will announce a new power tariff for both the bulk and retail levels on Wednesday afternoon.

The regulator is set to hold a press conference in its conference room in this regard on that day. The new tariff might have a retrospective effect from June 1.

The commission earlier held a two-day public hearing over the power tariff hike proposals of state-run Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), and other state-owned power distribution companies, including West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd (WZPDC), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC), Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd (DESCO), and Rural Electrification Board (REB) on May 20 and May 21.
