Dhaka, March 16 -- The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has initiated the process to auction goods stored in 378 containers at the Chattogram Customs House to ease container congestion at Chattogram port.

According to a press release issued on Sunday, the auction will be conducted through an electronic auction (e-auction) system during March 2026 as part of efforts to reduce container backlogs and ensure safety and efficient port operations.

Customs authorities regularly sell unclaimed and auctionable goods through such processes to mitigate congestion risks, ensure physical and financial security, prevent wastage of state resources and enhance operational efficiency at the seaport.
