Bangladesh, Oct. 1 -- The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for submitting online VAT returns for the July and August 2026 tax periods to October 15, allowing taxpayers to file the returns without facing any fine or penalty.

The revenue board took the decision following changes in VAT return filing provisions introduced in the national budget for fiscal year 2026-27.

Under the previous provision, taxpayers could submit VAT returns after every three tax periods. As a result, many businesses deferred filing their returns for July and August, according to the NBR.
