Dhaka, May 16 -- Registrar General of Birth and Death Registration Abu Saleh Muhammad Yusuf has said obtaining multiple birth registrations for one person is a punishable offence under the law.

In a letter sent on Thursday to all deputy commissioners, divisional commissioners and chairmen of union parishads, the Registrar General highlighted the legal provisions relating to birth and death registration, BSS reports.

He urged citizens to complete birth and death registrations following proper procedures and avoid creating or using fake or multiple registrations.
