Bangladesh, Sept. 23 -- An overwhelming pressure of patients puts strain on services at the Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex in Jashore as the 50-bed hospital is currently having to provide treatment to 122 patients, including 34 dengue-inflicted ones, daily.

Hospital statistics show a marked rise in dengue admissions since June this year. A total of 51 dengue patients were admitted in June, while the number rose to 125 in July.

Admissions peaked at 161 in August while 128 dengue patients have already been admitted in September before the end of the month.
