Dhaka, Feb. 27 -- A moderate earthquake jolted most parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, on Friday afternoon.
The tremor was felt around 1:53 pm, triggering panic among residents in several districts.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the earthquake originated at 1:52:29pm, about 46 kilometres southwest of Khulna in Bangladesh.
The quake had a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 35 kilometres.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage at the time of filing this report.
