Dhaka, April 20 -- Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain said the measles situation in Bangladesh has not yet reached epidemic level as emergency vaccination efforts continue nationwide.

The minister shared his assessment on Monday morning following the official launch of a nationwide emergency measles-rubella vaccination campaign at the Little Angel Seminary, located in Zinda Park of Narayanganj's Rupganj, bdnews24.com reports.

"No, this is not an epidemic. In the affected areas we have already brought around 85 percent of the population under vaccination coverage," he said in response to a question.
