Dhaka, May 13 -- Measles continues to spread across Bangladesh, with at least eight child deaths and 126 new infections reported over the past 24 hours.

On Wednesday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its regular bulletin that one of the deaths was confirmed as measles, while seven others were classified as suspected cases showing similar symptoms, bdnews24.com reports.

According to the DGHS, 69 people have died from confirmed measles cases since Mar 15, alongside 363 suspected fatalities recorded during the same period.

Data indicates that Dhaka has been the hardest hit, with 143 suspected deaths to date, while 78 fatalities occurred in the Rajshahi Division.
