Dhaka, June 4 -- The government has appointed Masud Khan, Group CEO of Crown Cement PLC, as the new chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).

According to an official notification issued on Thursday, Mr Khan has been appointed chairman of the capital market regulator for a four-year term from the date of joining under Section 5(2) of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993.

The appointment is subject to his severing all employment and professional affiliations with other institutions and organisations before assuming office.

His salary, allowances and other benefits will be determined through a contract to be executed with the government.
