Bangladesh, Oct. 6 -- Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is still being sold above the regulator-fixed price as the market remains volatile amid a supply-demand gap, market sources said.

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Sunday raised the price of the widely used 12-kilogramme (kg) LPG cylinder by Tk 252, or 15.89 per cent, to Tk 1,837.

Consumers, however, are being forced to pay Tk 2,000 to Tk 2,200 for a 12kg cylinder, they said.

Following a hike in the price of autogas, used in vehicles, to Tk 84.62 per litre from Tk 73.09, LPG has become available at filling stations after several days of irregular supply and unavailability.
