Bangladesh, Aug. 12 -- The government has decided to form a joint committee comprising the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) and Chittagong Customs House to remove trade barriers, speed up cargo clearance and reduce business costs, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said on Tuesday.

Advertisement The committee will work to improve coordination between port and customs officials so that both agencies can operate more seamlessly, he said.

The finance minister made the remarks while briefing journalists outside the Chittagong Port building after a high-level meeting with senior officials of the port and customs. National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman, CPA Chairman and other senior officials attended the meeting.
