Bangladesh, Sept. 25 -- The country's Islamic banking operations shed 2,755 employees in a year, with total manpower falling 6.0 per cent to 44,765 in July 2026 from 47,520 a year earlier, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB) data.

Advertisement The sector's manpower also declined by 460 in a month, from 45,225 in June 2026, registering a month-on-month fall of 1.02 per cent.

The decline comes amid bank mergers, increasing automation, sluggish business activity and pressure on profitability, bankers and economists said.
