Dhaka, March 2 -- Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has instructed field-level police officers across the country to adopt a zero tolerance policy against extortion, robbery and
drug-related crimes.
The directive was issued during an online exchange of views with police superintendents of all districts held from Police Headquarters today (Monday), BSS reports citing a press release of Police Headquarters.
Addressing the meeting, the IGP stressed that extortion and robbery, particularly on highways, must be stopped immediately.
He directed both the highway police and district police to intensify their patrols and surveillance activities to ensure safety on major roads across the country.
