Bangladesh, Oct. 1 -- Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has urged the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) to elevate its professionalism, eliminate tax dependencies and achieve efficiency on par with agile, market-savvy private financial institutions to lead the country's capital market transition.

The minister made the remarks on Thursday at a programme arranged by the ICB to mark its 50th anniversary.

"Private sector participants are highly intelligent and closely connected with global and local markets, and ICB must elevate itself to that level," said the finance minister as chief guest at the programme.

He said the ICB stood at a pivotal juncture where it must fundamentally rethink its operational framework.
