Dhaka, April 21 -- Commerce Minister Khandker Abdul Muktadir met US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen on Tuesday at the Secretariat.

They talked about how to increase trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States.

The US ambassador said Parliament is working smoothly under Prime Minister and Parliament Leader Tarique Rahman.

He said this is a good example of democracy. The ambassador also said stronger trade ties will benefit both countries.

He said that Brendan Lynch, Assistant US Trade Representative (USTR) for South and Central Asia, will visit Bangladesh soon to improve trade talks.

He is also interested in Bangladesh's new import policy.
