Bangladesh, July 25 -- The government has moved to build a 100MW skid-mounted, gas-fired power plant on the Bhola island to utilise the long-stranded natural and diversified energy sources to cope with the mounting energy demand across the country.

State-run Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) was set to float a tender soon to select a contractor for building the plant within the shortest possible time, BPDB Chairman Md Rezaul Karim told The Financial Express on Thursday.Bangladesh market analysis

He said the power plant would be fast-tracked to meet the growing electricity demand while reducing reliance on the costly imported liquefied natural gas (LNG).
