Dhaka, May 15 -- Fulfilling a long-standing demand of local residents, the government has officially declared Bogura a city corporation, marking a major administrative upgrade for one of the country's key urban centres in the northern region.

The Local Government Division yesterday published a gazette notification in this regard, reports BSS.

According to the gazette, issued under subsection (3) of Section 3 of the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009, the new Bogura City Corporation has been formed by incorporating the existing Bogura Municipality along with several adjoining areas.
