Bangladesh, Sept. 21 -- Fuel price increases have prompted the Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association (BICDA), representing private container depot owners, to raise container handling charges by 9.85 per cent.

The association issued a notice on Monday announcing the increase, reports bdnews24.com.

BICDA Secretary General Ruhul Amin Sikder said, "The government has increased fuel prices by Tk 20 per litre from [Monday]. Accordingly, diesel prices have risen 17.4 per cent, from Tk 115 to Tk 135.

"We have different rates at different stages of container handling. We have increased all of them by an average of 9.85 per cent, effective from today."
