Dhaka, March 22 -- Four people, including a teenager, have been killed after a pickup van plunged into a roadside ditch in Habiganj's Madhabpur Upazila.

The accident occurred on the Andiura area of the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway on Sunday morning, said Shuvo Ranjan Chakma, chief (OC) of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station.

Three of the victims have been identified as Ibrahim, the pickup driver, Asma Akhter, 40, and her son, Shojib, 13, bdnews24.com reports.

"A pickup van loaded with home furniture veered out of control and crashed into a ditch on the side of the highway," the OC said.

"Four people were killed on the spot."
