Bangladesh, July 25 -- Persistent rainfall and flooding in different parts of the country have triggered a sharp increase in the prices of vegetables, fish, eggs, onions, green chillies and many other daily essentials in the city, putting further pressure on consumers.Business news publication

Advertisement A visit to several retail markets, including Mohammadpur Krishi Market, Town Hall, West Dhanmondi and Adabor on Friday morning found that prices of vegetables increased by Tk 20-50 a kg. Green chilli showed Tk100-120 hike a kg. Vegetable vendors were selling the item at Tk 280-300 per kg. Most vegetables were selling at around Tk 100 per kg or more.
