Dhaka, April 20 -- A fire has broken out in the basement of a building in Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of Dhaka.

Rafi Al Farooq, duty officer of the Fire Service Control Room, said the emergency service was informed about the fire incident at 12:38 pm on Monday.

The fire was extinguished within about half an hour, around 1:15 pm, through the efforts of four units of firefighters, reports bdnews24.com.

He said, "There was a fire in the basement of the building, which has been doused. We have not yet received a detailed report."

He could not initially provide information on the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
