Dhaka, April 8 -- A Dhaka court ordered former Speaker of Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury to be sent to jail after her arrest in a case filed over an attempted murder during the July Uprising.
The Detective Branch (DB) of police sought a two-day remand to interrogate her, while her lawyer petitioned the court for bail
Following a hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana rejected both the remand and bail pleas and directed that she be sent to jail. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was produced before the court at 1:55 pm and later taken to the lockup of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka.
