Dhaka, March 9 -- Former employees of Grameenphone held a peaceful solidarity programme in front of the company's GP House in the city on Saturday, marking International Women's Day and demanding the settlement of long-standing financial claims, according to a press release.
The programme was held under the theme "Indomitable Women's Power in Protecting Rights." Male and female former employees joined the gathering, expressing support for women's dignity, civil rights and their pending financial demands.
Organisers said the former employees have been carrying out a peaceful movement for years demanding payment of a five per cent delayed penalty compensation they claim remains unpaid.
