Bangladesh, Sept. 15 -- The Dhaka Stock Exchange's broad index has fallen below the level it stood at when the current chairman of the securities regulator assumed office, amid an escalation of the war in the Middle East.

Advertisement The DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed at 5,379 points on Monday, the lowest in more than three months, after losing 39 points from the previous session. It slid 188 points in the five sessions through Monday.

The incumbent chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Masud Khan, joined office on June 4, when the DSEX closed at 5,475 points.
