Bangladesh, Sept. 1 -- The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Bidyanondo Foundation have jointly launched a programme targeting the collection of 0.1 million kg (1,00,000 kg) of waste through 100 mobile campaigns over the next year.

Advertisement The programme titled 'Groceries in Exchange for Waste' was inaugurated on Monday by DSCC Administrator Md Abdus Salam at a field adjacent to the Hazaribagh slum in Ward 55 of the capital.

"Active citizen participation is essential for building a clean city and the programme can be an effective way to encourage such participation," the DSCC administrator said while inaugurating the event.
