Dhaka, Delhi discuss reactivating land ports, easing yarn imports
Bangladesh, Aug. 25 -- Bangladesh and India have discussed reopening closed border haats, making land ports fully operational and withdrawing the existing restriction on yarn import through land routes as part of efforts to deepen bilateral trade relations.

The issues were discussed at a meeting between Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir and Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi at the Secretariat on Monday.
After the meeting, the commerce minister told reporters that bilateral trade between Bangladesh and India stands at around $13 billion. However, commercial activities have slowed somewhat because of several obstacles that have emerged over the past one and a half years.
