Customs unearths import misdeclaration
Bangladesh, Sept. 15 -- Customs officials have uncovered a major misdeclaration of imported goods and seized counterfeit cigarettes, processed tobacco and acetate tow in separate drives in Chattogram and Gazipur, in the latest crackdown on revenue evasion and illicit tobacco trade.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) disclosed the achievements of its customs teams in two separate press statements on Monday.
At Chattogram Customs House (CCH), officials found that Kahf Corporation had misdeclared an import consignment of heat transfer paper.
The CCH has already recovered around Tk 679 million in additional revenue from the importer.
