Commerce ministry declares REHAB president's post vacant over loan default
Bangladesh, Sept. 14 -- The Ministry of Commerce has declared the post of president of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) vacant based on a report from Bangladesh Bank's Credit Information Bureau (CIB).
The Trade Organisation-2 branch of the ministry sent an official letter on the matter to REHAB's senior vice president on Monday.
The letter, signed by Chowdhury Samia Yasmin, deputy secretary of the ministry, said Md Ali Afzal, REHAB president, is a loan defaulter in his capacity as a director of a defaulting institution, according to a Bangladesh Bank CIB report.
"His post as president is hereby declared vacant in accordance with Section 23(1)(b) of the Trade Organizations Act, 2022," the letter said.
