BGB steps up patrols across 198km Kurigram frontier to stop infiltration
Dhaka, May 14 -- Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has tightened its vigil along the nearly 198-km stretch of the frontier in Kurigram to prevent drug smuggling, trafficking, and illegal infiltration.
The Kurigram-22 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion took the measure on Thursday morning to ensure overall border security, citing political instability within India, said its commanding officer Lt Col Md Mahbub-ul-Haq, bdnews24.com reports.
The frontier force says it has increased special patrols and intelligence activities alongside regular duties to tackle any unpleasant situations and prevent illicit cross-border movements.
Every Border Outpost (BOP) under the battalion is conducting seamless day-and-night patrols.
