Bangladesh, Sept. 29 -- The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) will conduct a fresh review of the financial statements of power and energy sector companies and has moved to enforce mandatory project approvals as part of efforts to strengthen regulatory oversight, BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed said on Tuesday.

Advertisement The chairman also acknowledged that the regulator has not been able to fully exercise several powers vested in it under the BERC Act, including energy auditing and project scrutiny.
