Bangladesh, Sept. 29 -- Bangladesh Bank (BB) has widened the scope for using international payment cards to purchase air tickets from foreign airlines operating in Bangladesh.

Advertisement The central bank's move comes to facilitate outbound travel and simplify cross-border payment settlements.

The Foreign Exchange Policy Department (FEPD) issued a circular on Monday to this effect, allowing resident Bangladeshi nationals to buy tickets with international cards even when the ticket sale proceeds are settled through the airlines' established international acquiring-and-payment settlement arrangements outside Bangladesh.
