Bangladesh, Sept. 30 -- Bangladesh Bank is set to introduce a series of measures from Thursday to accelerate the nationwide expansion of interoperable Bangla QR-based digital payments, including instant settlement of merchant payments, removal of the minimum Merchant Discount Rate (MDR), and waiver of the Interchange Reimbursement Fee (IRF) for micro and small businesses.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan said the central bank is giving the highest priority to expanding the use of Bangla QR in the health, education and transport sectors as part of its efforts to build a cashless economy.
