Bangladesh, Sept. 21 -- The Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association (BAFFA) has opposed issuing freight forwarding licences to fully foreign-owned companies, saying meaningful local participation is needed to protect domestic entrepreneurs and retain economic benefits in Bangladesh.

Advertisement The association placed the demand among five policy proposals ahead of a meeting with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on freight forwarding licensing rules on Sunday.

BAFFA said it supports foreign direct investment that brings capital, technology, jobs and knowledge transfer, but urged the NBR to restrict 100 per cent foreign ownership in the freight forwarding sector.
