Dhaka, April 1 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has informed the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that approval has been received for the establishment of 97 economic zones across the country.
He made the disclosure while replying to a question from Md. Ashraf Uddin, Member of Parliament for the Narsingdi-5 constituency, during the question-and-answer session, BSS reports.
Responding to the query, the Prime Minister said that approval has already been granted by the governing board of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).
He also said that approval has been given to establish economic zones on 690.2016 acres of land in Baghata, Balusair, Mahishasur, and Khatra mouzas in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila.
