Bangladesh, July 27 -- Founder and Chief Executive Officer of multinational conglomerate MGH Group Anis Ahmed has become the chairman of Eastern Bank PLC (EBL).

The decision, which was taken unanimously by the Board of Directors of the bank on Monday, came into effect on the same day.

Prior to the election as chairman, Mr. Ahmed served as a member of the Board's Executive Committee (EC), and earlier, as the chairman of the Risk Management Committee (RMC) of the bank, according to a press release.
