Dhaka, April 28 -- Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman today (Tuesday) said 300 megawatts of electricity will be added to the national grid from the first unit of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in August this year.
"This project will meet 10 percent of Bangladesh's total electricity demand and about two crore people will be benefited from it," he told a press briefing at the Secretariat, BSS reports.
Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana was present.
Claiming that there is no fuel crisis in the country, Dr Zahed said there are 170,000 metric tonnes of diesel in stock and another 180,000 metric tonnes will arrive by April 30.
