Dhaka, May 24 -- The Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) is set to introduce a 25 per cent special fare discount on Single Journey Tickets (SJT) for senior citizens aged over 60, and individuals with disabilities or special needs on the metro rail service.

According to a notification signed by the executive director of the fare-fixing authority for metro rail, the facility will come into effect from May 25, 2026, in accordance with the Metro Rail Act, 2015 and the Metro Rail Rules, 2016.

To avail of the concession, passengers will be required to present a valid NID card and relevant supporting documents. The fare reduction will be implemented following existing government rules and regulations.
